Looking for ways to celebrate Mom this Mother’s Day? Look no further than Appleseed Country! We have ideas galore for all types of moms.

THE Hallmark of Appleseed Country is, of course, apples! And we have not one, but THREE Apple Blossom Events on Mother’s Day weekend. On both Saturday and Sunday, it is Carlson Orchard’s Apple Blossom Open House. For more information, visit  www.carlsonorchards.com. Mother’s Day weekend is also Lanni Orchard’s Apple Blossom Festival, Route 13, Lunenburg offering free admission, hayrides through the orchard, great food, crafts, games, raffle and more. Visit www.lanniorchards.com for more information. And then on Saturday the 10th from 10am-4pm, it is the Apple Blossom Festival and Ducky Wucky River Race in Harvard center, 1 Still River Road. A day of family fun and festivities featuring crafts, food, music and the world-famous Ducky Wucky River Race. Great prizes, and the festival benefits charitable causes supported by the Rotary Club. Visit ayerrotary.com. And if you happen to be seeing your mom the following weekend, on May 16th, you can attend the Apple Blossom Festival at Sholan Farms, 1125 Pleasant St., Leominster. Crafters, food vendors, silent raffle, butterfly release and live entertainment. The Sholan Farms Apple Blossom Festival celebrates the advent of spring in the Central Massachusetts region as evidenced by the blooming of the apple trees. How about the Theater Loving Mom?  On May 8th and 9th, Theater at the Mount presents The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Take out your dictionaries! This six-time Tony nominated musical tells the story of five quirky kids vying for 1st prize, bragging rights, and most importantly, a trip to the National Spelling Bee Championship. The misfit contestants are joined by 3 or 4 guest spellers from the audience as they learn that a spelling bee is one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time, win or lose. For the Music Loving Mom, we have John Sabastian at the Bull Run on Friday night, the 8th and Peter Mulvey on Saturday night, the 9th. For more information, visit www.bullrunrestaurant.com. Also on Saturday, the 9th, at 7:30pm, it’s the Pops Concert at Orange Town Hall, Main Street with The Orange Community Band presenting its annual pops concert. Free admission. What about The Active Mom? On Saturday, the 9th, it’s Wachusett Mountain’s Hill Climb, a cycling race from Route 140 to the summit with post-race activities in the Wachusett Mountain Base Lodge. Visit www.wachusett.com for more information. Also on Saturday, the 9th, it’s the FitCon Family Run/Walk including the Kids Run, 1/3 mile with Finishers medals for all participants. Both Male & Female prizes with age divisions including 1st Place $50, 2nd Place $25, and a 3rd Place Medal. It is $8 to participate and will start at Fitness Concepts, 696 West Broadway, Gardner. Does your mom Love To Shop? On Saturday, the 9th, from 8am-2pm, it’s the Spring in Bloom Fair at the Pilgrim Congregational Church, 26 West St., Leominster. Flowering plants (outside) and jewelry, books, crafts, homemade baked goods, raffles and a silent auction inside. A snack bar and lunch items including sandwiches, hot dogs, pastries, coffee, and soda will also be available. Rain or Shine. Or perhaps you could try the Town-Wide Yard Sale in Templeton.
