It’s that time of year again! Time to celebrate those wonderful men in our lives known as our dads! Can’t think of a good way to spend time together? Well, we have plenty of ideas for you in Appleseed Country!

NATURE LOVIN’ DAD

It’s Father’s Day Weekend at Tower Hill. Dads receive free admission all weekend long! On Saturday, it’s Tower Hill’s Foraging Weed Walk. Discover the late spring forged flavor of Tower Hill’s gardens and fields. Limited to 20 participants so register ahead of time. For more information, visit www.towerhillbg.org.

Also on Sunday from 10am-2pm, it’s the Kid’s Fishing Derby. This is a great way to spend the day with Dad. The kitchen will be open and there will be prizes for all kids. Event held at Turnpike Rod and Gun Club 94 Corey Hill Rd., Ashburnham. For more information call (978) 827-9961.

GOLF LOVIN’ DAD

Besides traditional golf, we also offer disc golf and miniature golf in Appleseed Country! Woods of Westminster has the best lunch special in Massachusetts to top the beautiful views that their course offers. And we can’t forget about Lancaster Golf Center who has all sorts of outdoor fun with batting cages, basketball, miniature golf, a three hole golf course, and a driving range. And in the Sterling area, Mulligans has an 18-hole course offering a challenging and fun time for the whole family. Each hole has a placard with woodland animal theme and interesting facts about that animal.

FUN LOVIN’ DAD

On Sunday the 21st Extreme Field Day for Kids returns to Wachusett Mountain. Come down and participate in this kids focused obstacle race that promotes getting back outside and away from the screens!

And Saturday and Sunday is Splashtacular Weekend at Davis Farmland located at 145 Redstone Hill Road in Sterling. Splash, laugh, and be bubbly as Davis Farmland opens Adventure Play & Spray for the 2014 season. On Sunday the 15th, kids can bring their dads for free! Once you’ve reached the checkpoint button, navigate back to the beginning to complete the mission and receive your score. FOOD LOVIN’ DAD

Saturday and Sunday from 10am-6pm, it’s the Strawberry Festival at Lanni Orchards, 294 Chase Rd, Lunenburg. This is a free event. Stop by and try before you buy, a great opportunity to sample everything local. Fresh baked pies, fresh baked bread, oils, vinegars, Italian cookies, Effie’s biscuits and crackers, Dom’s meat, Shaw Farm milk & ice cream and so much more!!! SPORTS LOVIN’ DAD

Saturday is Patriots Celebrity Softball, the Lancaster Firefighters Association’s game with the Patriots Celebrity Softball Team. If you haven’t already gotten your tickets please call (978) 368-1402. Tickets cost $10.00.

MUSIC LOVIN’ DAD

Sunday at 6pm is the Quabbin Community Band’s Opening Concert in Barre. Enjoy weekly traditional New England outdoor concerts, held at the bandstand in Barre center or at Nornay Park in South Barre.

CAR LOVIN’ DAD

On Sunday from 9am–1pm, it’s the Father’s Day Antique & Classic Car Show at Monty Tech, 1050 Westminster St., Fitchburg. Show car entrance fee is only $15! There will be a goodie Bag & Dash Plaque for the first 200 Registered Car. Attendance Prizes will be drawn ALL day long. Also serving coffee, pastries, lunch, and drinks all day long!
