It’s that spooky time of year again and what better place to spend 2014 Halloween this year than in Appleseed Country? We still have a lot going on for Halloween Weekend!

All October long, it’s Howl-O-Ween at Great Wolf Lodge. Grab your costumes and come to Great Wolf Lodge for our Howl-O-Ween event! Join Great Wolf for Spooktacular family activities such as our Trick-or-Treat Trail or Monster Bash Dance Party. It’ll be a howling good time! On Halloween Afternoon, it’s the Falloween Stroll in Downtown Gardner. This is for preschool aged kids from 10am-noon. Dress up and trick or treat in a safe environment. Participating businesses will have an orange flyer in their window. There is also a free story hour at the library at 10am.

And then there is the Halloween Monster Mash Bash on Halloween Day at Hop On In, 217 Hamilton St., Leominster. Wear your favorite costume and get $1 off general admission. No face makeup, please. Children will also receive a Monster Mash goodie bag. at 9:30, it’s a reading of Where the Wild Things Are and puppet making. Space is limited so call ahead for reservations. 978.534.0235.

From 5-7 on Halloween Night, it’s the Haunted Gazebo on Templeton Common. The Templeton Lions Club decorates the bandstand at Routes 101 and 2A, and invites trick-or-treaters to stop by.

Lancaster will be having their Second Annual Halloween on the Green on the 31st from 5pm-8pm. All ages welcome. Awards for best costume (most creative, scariest, and best animal), Hot Dog BBQ and Chili Cook Off contest, Hot cider drinks, and more! Click here for more information.

From 8-10 Halloween Night, it’s the Roll On America’s Halloween Costume Party. $6 admission includes unlimited soda and pizza (rentals extra). Prizes will be awarded for the most “spooktacular” costumes-Funniest, Scariest, Most Original. There will also be a Mummy Wrap Contest, Candy Scramble, Blood Shots, and more! For those who do not particularly like the holiday, there is Un-Halloween Skate at Roll On America from 5:30-7:30pm. No costumes, please. $10 includes unlimited pizza, unlimited soda, skating, skate or blade rental, unlimited laser tag, Pumpkin Penny Pitch and other games, too. Opening Halloween Night, it’s Liam Neeson’s A Walk Among the Tombstones at the Strand Theater in Clinton. Liam Neeson stars as private investigator Matthew Scudder who is hired by a drug kingpin to find out who kidnapped and murdered his wife. Then, at 10pm (only on the 31st), the Strand is playing the 1978 classic Halloween. For more information, visit www.strandmovies.com.

The fun continues into the weekend. Just because Saturday is November 1st, doesn’t mean Halloween Weekend is over!

Downtown Fitchburg Trick or Treat on Main St will be on November 1st from noon-2pm. Come and trick or treat in a safe and fun environment while supporting local businesses. Free face painting at Art on the Rocks, 377 Main St. New this year will be a haunted maze during Trick or Treat! Be sure to check it out at TribeSpace, 454 Main Street, 12-2PM, but don’t get lost! Click here for more information. Following trick or treat, at 5pm, it’s the Third Annual Zombieburg 2014! Zombies gather together at Monument Park across from the Fitchburg Public Library. Live music, floats, vendors, and zombies! GUARD YOUR BRAINS! There will be a Zombieburg Rally, Concert, and Trading Cards Photographs at Monument Park, across from the Fitchburg Public Library. Also on Saturday, November 1st at 3pm, it’s the much anticipated annual Bolton Halloween Celebration with a parade down Main Street beginning at 3pm. This year’s celebration is made possible by the newly minted community group Bolton Loco.

Next up on November 1st is Lucy’s Love Monster Mash 4. This is an annual Halloween themed fundraiser, dance, and raffle. All proceeds are to benefit Lucy’s Love Bus, a non-profit organization that delivers comfort and care to children and adolescents with cancer. The 2014 event is an 18+ event located at the Westminster Country Club, 51 Ellis Road, Westminster at 7pm. There will be hors d’oeuvres, drinks, dancing, and a costume contest!
