Enjoy Food and Family Fun on Easter Weekend

  • Visit North Central

Easter Sunday is just around the corner—and the Easter Bunny is getting ready for a busy weekend, hiding eggs throughout North Central Massachusetts communities. The weather is a bit chilly this week, but families will be getting a warm welcome as they head out to search for those (slightly) hiding plastic treasures.

Are you ready for the Great Easter Gathering? Saturday’s event at Red Apple Farm In Phillipston leads into the holiday with free Egg Hunts for the kids, raffles, vendors, and even breakfast with the Easter Bunny!

The family-run farm is once again teaming up with the Congregational Church of Phillipston and the Phillipston Lions Club to offer egg hunts for kids at 9, 10 and 11 am, and teens at 11:30 am. But there’s more to the day than the search for brightly-colored eggs.  Breakfast will be served in the Brew Barn from 8 am to 1 pm, and the Easter Bunny will be on hand for photos. Other highlights of the day include a 50/50 raffle, basket raffle, fresh cider donuts and coffee.  Visitors bringing a non-perishable food donation will be entered into a door prize drawing, too.

But the Phillipston event is just one of several egg hunts and celebrations planned for the Easter weekend here!

Kids 10 and under and invited to join the annual egg hunt at 11 am on Saturday at Winchendon’s Community Park on Ingleside Road, where the Easter Bunny will pose for photos and everyone can participate in games. Other egg hunts and celebrations on Saturday are planned at Lanni Orchards in Lunenburg,  in Littleton and on Templeton Common.  And if you’re busy this weekend, Ashburnham will hold a hunt on April 2.

Does all that hunting make you hungry? Or are you looking for a relaxing Easter meal—with someone else doing all the work? Check out the holiday special meals at local restaurants, including the 1761 Old Mill in Westminster, Moon Hill Brewing Co at the Gardner Ale House, Bull Run Restaurant in Shirley, and Il Forno in Leominster.

If you’re looking forward to lots of chocolate, jelly beans, photo opportunities and great dining, North Central Massachusetts is a great place to be on Easter weekend.
