What could be better than a bringing a blanket and a drink on a warm summer day or evening with live music outside? Johnny Appleseed Country is full of places to go listen to live outdoor music all summer long! Below is our list by town:

Ashby

Band Concerts on the Common (Rt. 119 and New Ipswich Rd). Wednesdays July 9, 16, 23, 30 and Aug 6, 13 & maybe the 20th. Music starts at 7:30. Food and beverages including hot dogs, hambugers, sodas sold by different local non-profit orgs each week. Popcorn, sundaes and other goodies also available. All concerts are weather permitting.

Athol

Tool Town Live is a free concert series which started in Athol in 2004 and has become one of the most popular and well-attended outdoor summer concert series in the region. Tool Town Live is indeed live – and lively! – a series of August and September concerts held from 7-9pm in various outdoor venues in good weather and at Athol Town Hall in case of rain. Clinton

The Clinton Parks & Recreation Department will be organizing a seven week summer concert series in Central Park this summer. Concerts will take place Tuesday nights in July & August from 7pm-8:30pm and will be family friendly with a variety of groups playing throughout the seven weeks. Concerts are free to attend, thanks to a wonderful group of local sponsors that help make these events possible. For a complete schedule please click here.

Fitchburg

Beautiful Coggshall Park has concerts on Sunday afternoons at 2pm.

Gardner

Spotlighting a variety of musical groups, Monument Park hosts Saturday evening concerts at 6pm during July and August. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy a variety of band performances on park stage.

Groton

The Main Street Cafe in conjunction with the Groton Parks Commission presents free music al fresco at the town gazebo! All concerts, weather permitting, are Saturday evenings from 6-8pm at the town gazebo behind the Library. Refreshments are available from Main Street Cafe.

Harvard

Summer Concerts on the hillside at Fruitlands Thursdays at 7:15pm. Gates open at 5:30 for picnics, concerts begin at 7:15. This is an outdoor venue so please bring a blanket or chairs (chairs are for sale at the Museum Store) and dress appropriately. Handicapped seating is available under the tent. Well-behaved dogs are welcome at the concerts. Please keep your dog with you at all times and pick up after him/her.Season discount passes are available: $50/car Members, $75/car Nonmembers–pick any 6 concerts to attend.

Leominster

The Leominster Colonial Band plays at Carter Park usually on Tuesday nights.
Summer Concert Series at Carter Park in downtown Leominster. Enjoy the music of local artists every Thursday evening from 6-8pm. This FREE event will begin June 6, 2013 and continue until Thursday, August 29. Bring a blanket, bring a chair, and bring your dancing shoes. Click here for directions to Carter Park.

Petersham

Petersham Brass Band Concert on Petersham Common. Baked goods, hotdogs, popcorn. All welcome. Free. Playing June 23rd and July 7th.

Sterling

Sterling Summer Concert Series at Memorial Park on Cross St. Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-8pm.

Townsend

Thursday evening concerts at 7pm from June until August by the Townsend Military Band are preceded by a lawn party, complete with food and activities for the kids, sponsored by local community organizations.

Westminster

Band Concerts at Academy Hill on Academy Hill Road on Wednesdays 7pm-9pm.
