MOTT Director Francois-Laurent Nivaud Tours Johnny Appleseed CountryThe Johnny Appleseed Trail Association (JATA) hosted Francois-Laurent Nivaud, the new executive director of the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism (MOTT) on August 2, 2016. This familiarization tour was organized by the Johnny Appleseed Trail Association to help increase Mr. Nivaud’s knowledge of North Central Massachusetts and showcase the many exciting attractions and offerings that our unique and vibrant region has to offer.

The tour included stops at Great Wolf Lodge in Fitchburg; Red Apple Farm in Phillipston; Gardner Ale House in Gardner; Devens Recreation/MassDevelopment; Springhill Suites in Devens; Fitchburg State University and the Fitchburg Art Museum in Fitchburg; Downtown Leominster; the Sonoma Restaurant in Princeton; Nashoba Valley Winery in Bolton; and the Johnny Appleseed Visitors Center in Lancaster.  The tour also included meetings with tourism leaders from Leominster, Fitchburg and Westminster.

“We were happy to organize this tour to show Francois some of the many great attractions and experiences that North Central Massachusetts has to offer visitors,” said Roy Nascimento, president and CEO of the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce and the Johnny Appleseed Trail Association. “We look forward to continuing our work with the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism to promote our region of the state as a great destination that is rich in history, culture and entrepreneurial drive and that offers the authentic New England experience.”

The Johnny Appleseed Trail Association (JATA) has partnered with members over the last year to host several FAM tours for the travel media and other industry professionals. The purpose of these familiarization (FAM) tours is to generate positive awareness among travel writers and positive coverage in their travel publications, which ultimately generates additional tourists and additional dollars to our region.
