01420 Week Press Release

01420 Week is more than just a series of events; it’s a manifestation of Fitchburg’s heart and soul. Through a curated selection of activities ranging from visual arts workshops to live performances and cultural showcases, the week promises to be a showcase of the city’s artistic diversity and a celebration of its cultural heritage. Central to the week’s success are key events designed to engage a broad spectrum of our community and highlight the collaborative spirit of Fitchburg’s residents and businesses.

Free Admission at Fitchburg Art Museum
April 14th – April 20th, check hours. Free admission.

Activate Mill Street
April 14th – April 20th, 1-9pm. Hosted by CoFF33 Corp on Mill Street, dive into the limited beer & wine bar experience crafted for adults.

Recycled Art Challenge
April 16th – April 19th, 12-5pm at Main Street Studios, 675 Main St. Make art with recycled materials (take out containers, cardboard, bottles).

Sunday, April 14th
Owl Sculpture Workshop – Sold Out
9am-4:30pm. Attendees learn how to weld and make a metal sculpture. All time slots booked.

Uncle Sho’s Variety Show
6-9pm on Mill Street. A blend of comedy, music, and performances. For adults, no registration needed.

Monday, April 15th
Main Street Stanzas
1-5pm at Upper Common. An all-ages event hosted by the City of Fitchburg, encouraging participants to decorate sidewalks with poetry.

Breakdancing Workshop
6-8pm at Shining Starz Studio of Dance, 454 Main Street. Cypha in Da Burg hosts a dynamic workshop for all ages, showcasing breakdancing with a live DJ.

Tuesday, April 16th
Blue Lotus Flower Meditation Retreat
10am-1pm at First Parish Church, 923 Main St. A spirit-centered retreat for all ages, registration required on eventbrite.

FATV Open House
11am-7pm at Fitchburg Access Television, 780 Main St. Discover the world of television production. RSVP encouraged.

Free Yoga Class – Sold Out
6-7pm at Main Street Studios, 675 Main St. A session of relaxation and meditation for adults. Registration required. Waitlist.

Wednesday, April 17th
Kokedama Japanese Planting for Kids
4-5pm at Fitchburg Public Library. Ages 8-12 can learn this unique planting style. Registration required: http://tinyurl.com/bdz54rb2 or call the library at 978-829-1789.

A Market on Mill
5-9pm on Mill Street. A showcase of local artisans and makers. Open to all ages.

Arts & Culture Public Input Forum
6-8pm at Main Street Studios, 675 Main St. Discuss with the Fitchburg Cultural Council the kind of arts, science, and humanities projects and events you’d like to see more of in Fitchburg. Thurston Consort Performance,
1pm-2:30pm at Senior Center, 14 Wallace St. Ensemble performance of baroque, English Country Dance, music from the Celtic lands, and more. Open to all ages.

Teen Blackout Poetry Day
2-3:30pm Fitchburg Public Library Teen Center, 166 Boulder Dr. Create poetry by covering up words in existing print materials. For Ages 11-18. No registration required.

Taino Culture Presentation
2:30-3:30pm Fitchburg Art Museum, 185 Elm St. Join Guaribono Nakan for a performance and presentation of Taino culture to raise awareness. Open to All Ages.

Open Choir Rehearsal & Organ Demo
7-9pm at Christ Church, 569 Main St. Enjoy the harmonies of Haydn and an organ demo by the Fitchburg State University and Christ Church Fitchburg choirs. Open to all.

Scrunch-Paint a Silk Scarf

Broadway Karaoke Night
7-10pm at Main Street Studios, 675 Main St. Belt out your favorite Broadway hits.

Comedy at the Boulder Cafe
7:30pm-9pm at the Boulder Cafe, 880 Main St. A power hour of whimsically whacked comedy every Third Friday to knock you on your ass and start your weekend right! $10 admission.

Worcester Chamber Music Society concert
7:30pm-9:30pm at the Fitchburg Art Museum, 185 Elm St. “Out of Ordinary” is a music performance of Melanie Bonis, Felix Mendelssohn and Franz Schubert. General admission is $31-38. Discounts available. For free resident tickets, email boxoffice@worcesterchambermusic.org with your name and address.

Saturday Storytime: Earth Day Edition
10:30-11am at Fitchburg Public Library. A special storytime for kids, celebrating Earth Day. No registration.

Street Art Festival
11am – 3pm at Daniels Street Park, Lower Cleghorn. Celebrate the rich street art culture in Fitchburg, emphasizing modern expressions of murals, stencil art, wheatpasting, and installations.

Tablado Celeste: Uruguayan Culture Showcase
1-4pm at Fitchburg Riverfront Park, 51 Commercial St. Experience the vibrant Uruguayan carnival with live music and food. Open to all.
